چکیده

A factor analysis was conducted that involved 33 variables from data on 100 acute cerebral vascular accident patients evaluated by occupational therapists at the St. Marys Hospital Medical Center, Madison, Wisconsin. Variables included the Brunnstrom arm and hand recovery stages, bilateral grasp and pinch measures, bilateral tests of coordination, a number of perceptual tests, and five measures of self-care. From interpretation of the rotated factor patterns, five factors were defined: self-care, left function, recovery stage, perception, and strength. The results provide evidence for the construct validity of the St. Marys CVA battery, although corroborative studies are needed.

Continued construct validation of the St. Marys CVA Evaluation: Bilateral Awareness Scale.

Previous research suggested that scores on the Schenkenberg Line Bisection Test of unilateral neglect should correlate significantly with bilateral awareness ratings on the St. Marys CVA Evaluation, but that scores on both of these instruments should not correlate with St. Marys perceptual scores. To test this hypothesis, occupational therapists at St. Marys Hospital Medical Center administered...

Validity of the Arnadóttir OT-ADL Neurobehavioral Evaluation (A-ONE): performance in activities of daily living and neurobehavioral impairments of persons with left and right hemisphere damage.

OBJECTIVE The Arnadóttir OT-ADL Neurobehavioral Evaluation (A-ONE) is a standardized assessment that links performance in activities of daily living (ADL) to neurobehavioral impairments. This study tested the construct validity of the A-ONE. METHOD From two hospitals in Iceland, 42 patients between 45 and 87 years of age who had sustained either a right or a left cerebrovascular accident (CVA...

Validity of the Cognitive Behavioral Driver's Inventory in predicting driving outcome.

OBJECTIVE This study seeks to (a) compare Cognitive Behavioral Driver's Inventory (CBDI) scores for clients who passed and failed a driving evaluation and for diagnostic groups (left cerebrovascular accident [CVA], right CVA, traumatic brain injury [TBI], and cognitive decline); (b) determine sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of the CBDI; (c) compare validity...
